No Zelda or Mario will hurt. But Nintendo’s decided I’m just too poor to be worthy of playing their games any more.

Some of us will probably even get to play it early judging by the past several first-party Nintendo games.
You aren’t a true gamer unless you buy 20 copies of Celeste Mario Kart World to support the starving developer Maddy Makes Games Nintendo.
Nintendo deliberately exited the Real Console wars after the Gamecube. This is an interesting time for them to decide to re-join it.
That only matters if you would have paid for it otherwise.
Iwata is gone, and it really shows.
Nintendo fans buy anything at any price.
Counterpoint: Wii U.
That’s $4.17 a month.
…on top of all the other “It’s only $X!” subscription services out there. If it’s the ONLY subscription you have, sure, that’s not bad, but how common is that?
Time for a raid on South Vinland.
if you pay for switch online
The more expensive Switch Online Expansion Pass, specifically. That’s a big if.

The G stands for gamers’ money!
FIVE HUNDRED NINETY-NINE US DOLLARS
At $80-$90 for physical editions, I wouldn’t count on the used market helping that much.
Also did they mention how much the “upgrades” will be?
My understanding is it’s $10 for upgrades that just run better with no new content, and $20 for ones that also have new content of come sort. Nintendo’s gonna be the most expensive console to buy games for now. Remember the Switch tax? Get ready for the Switch tariff!
Official EU website hosting American-made media for a nominal fee. Can’t tariff data!
Yes, Japan got the only exception because Nintendo knows the price sucks and they want to make sure it sells well in their home country. Mind you, this is a special region-locked Switch that only supports Japanese. A non-region-locked Switch that costs more will also be available there.
How could it? It’s just data, no physical goods are being imported. Do tariffs apply to phone calls from other countries?
And 60fps! Well, not for me, I’ll be playing on original Switch hardware.
