If they are coming from Windows: Kinoite
If they are coming from Macintosh: Silverblue

It doesn’t really improve productivity much for me. And if you take into account the emails I receive from coworkers written with copilot then I’m actually doing more work to decipher what they are trying to say.

It is just advertising. The more I think about it the more I can’t think of any practical use for generative AI that doesn’t involve essentially spamming everyone.

I’ve been impressed with F-Droid’s press releases. If they have a snowball’s chance in hell of stopping this, they are certainly giving it a clear and concise effort.

At the risk of sounding like a conservative, most people do find meaning in doing work and would not be content to lay around eating and watching TikTok forever. Just because someone does not find meaning in laboring to make their bosses wealthy does not mean they don’t find meaning in the work itself.
For example I think a lot of “low level” jobs would be quite enjoyable and rewarding if we weren’t forced to do them in order to survive. I’m thinking things like carpentry, running a small grocery store or even waiting tables.
So to answer your question, yes, the Earth can provide far more than every person needs to live a fulfilling life because all we need is food, shelter, community and freedom to find how we can best contribute. Those things are not expensive or resource intensive. But they are kept from us and replaced with plastic things we don’t need in order to further enrich a small few.

Compared to Windows. To be clear I’m just basing that on vibes, and I haven’t done any 1:1 testing, but it’s absolutely not any worse than Windows with everything I’ve tried. But also, even if it was slightly worse, the benefit of almost never needing a mouse/keyboard still would make it worth it.

Yep well said. My hope is that Google’s recent changes will encourage some activity into other projects or (even better) a Linux Phone OS.

Honestly, I like Bazzite because it’s very controller and gaming friendly and you won’t be disappointed with it. That said, for a daily driver workstation computer you might want to try Fedora Kinoite which is very similar but focused towards desktop use.
Also it doesn’t hurt to try both as I said they’re very similar! Would love to hear a follow up on your experience.

I’ve been trying out Bazzite with an Nvidia GPU and performance is slightly better but the overall experience is significantly improved over windows.

I know, I’m adding to what you said. I’m saying unfairness is not an “issue” of capital punishment, it’s how it is, always has been, and is impossible to do without unfairness.

Heaven is almost certainly not real, and I didn’t mention that. I only mentioned God as as example of something “greater” than man. I did not say God or heaven was real.

I’ll go one further, I wouldn’t trust any human being to make that decision.

And you get to determine who is “steadfastly evil”?

I think it’s wrong to knowingly inflict suffering in others in any capacity.

When you remember that in order to even get the death penalty, you have to be such a horrible person that you’re pretty much no longer human
This is just absolutely not true. Throughout history countless innocent people have been executed not because of the facts, but because they were unable to defend themselves against the accusations. Meanwhile, many wealthy or powerful people have been guilty but never even charged with a crime. In fact, the nature of a crime has almost zero correlation with the sentence.

If you truly believe that all humans are equal then you must also believe that it is impossible for one to stand in judgment of another. I believe that killing is wrong because it is one human standing in judgement of another. Society has a duty to protect its members, but judgement and the concept of “punishment” is something that should be left to God.

You’re not thinking critically when you start from a conclusion.
Agreed
That’s the opposite of critical thinking.
Agreed
That’s literally just continuing to believe and not question something.
Agreed
Ah that’s a bummer. Pixel makes the most sense as long as they continue to be easily unlocked. But it would be nice to have a more ethical/sustainable hardware option with privacy.
