the late 2020s are the decade of the linux desktop!
Seems like we’re getting what we wanted.
I hope this isn’t a monkey’s paw wish.
2026 is the year of Linux. Trump bans use of Linux because it came from Europe and has no idea what it is
Look, folks, I’ve been hearing a lot, a lot, about this thing called Linux. Ever heard of it? Sounds European, doesn’t it? Probably invented in Brussels, or Sweden, maybe Russia, I don’t know. Total disaster. I call it Socialist Windows, because that’s what it is! It’s chaotic, no one’s in charge. Total mess. Bernie Sanders running an IT department, terrible. Meanwhile, Windows, great American company, by the way, very successful, very strong.
we’re getting there i can tell ya
Neat
In practice, SUSE’s Sovereign Premium Support is tailored for enterprises and public sector organizations that require strict data residency, privacy, and operational control within the EU. The service ensures that:
- All support personnel and data are based in the EU, with named premium support engineers and service delivery managers assigned to each customer.
- Customer support data is stored exclusively on EU-located networks and servers, addressing both regulatory and geopolitical concerns.
- Access to sensitive data is strictly limited to EU-based staff, with a commitment to encrypting all data required for troubleshooting.
Agreed. I hope this gains even more traction. Building a digital economy around support and service of free open source software with the requirement of personnel being local seems like the best way for Europe to finally become competitive.
Kind of sad that it needs political tention to help Linux/GNU/systemd succeed.
Is that suse-on-a-phone just a tease, or something awesome I have yet to discover?
Great move!
