Oh good, so it’s not just me :)
SJW seems to be having some problems I think.

Oh dear, now I’m wondering if I’m on your list or not :)
I only have two bot accounts blocked, not even sure if they’re still active.
Thelsim@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s the first book you remember loving?3·25 days agoThe Planet of Adventure series (it came as a single book) by Jack Vance.
It was more of an adventure book than sci-fi. Light on the science but amazingly descriptive with the details of its world building. It was the first time I could read a book and really experience it like I was there. I dug it out of my dad’s sci-fi collection when I was about 11 I think. It was a Dutch translation and came with a separate map. I loved that map so much, you could follow the journey and fantasize about all those other parts that weren’t mentioned in the book.So yea, it’s the book that opened a whole realm of imagination for me.

My dad came up with the name as a joke and it kind of stuck.
Inattentive adhd. My mind likes to go on little vacations.

I was one of those seven that needed to go. But one of those that got to stay had a year long sabbatical planned and decided to take it earlier. This allowed me to stay, but I only got to hear this about a week or two before I had to go.I already had some second job interviews planned and attended these anyway for fun. I wasn’t rude, but definitely a lot more casual than your usual applicant :)
That used to be my slacking off game at my first real job. I’d ssh into my computer at home and sneakily play Nethack whenever I got bored. Either that or browse websites with Links.
This was around 2007 and way outside my comfort zone as far as computers were concerned. I felt like such a hacker at the time :)

[serious]16·2 months agoI take a random number around 800 and start to count backwards in increments of 7. It’s kind of tedious and drowns out my other thoughts. I don’t think I’ve ever made it to zero :)
Of course you should use bigger numbers if your math skills are better.

Thelsim@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the worst you ever hurt yourself as a kid?1·2 months agoA flowerpot fell on my head when I was little, on my forehead.
The thing is, I don’t remember this ever happening. There’s a photo of me with a giant bandage, and I still have a scar in the form of some dented skin. But I can’t recall anything from that time.
Maybe it’s because I was like 2 or 3 years old or something. But I find it a little bit unsettling that my memory is a blank.
Thelsim@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you reading right now and recommend for others?2·2 months agoI’m busy working my way through Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen series.
It’s a very dense set of books with a ton of lore, but I’m enjoying it a lot (I’m at the sixth one so far). The only downside is that I read them on an e-reader and can’t quickly look at all the detailed maps and glossaries whenever I want.
Thelsim@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People of Lemmy, what does your egg carton look like? No fair changing the setup for the picture.4·3 months agoYes, European :)
But the egg dispenser is something I once 3d printed when it was still a hobby.
Can’t seem to find the original design anymore though.edit
Oh, I think it’s this one: https://www.printables.com/model/70036-fridge-spiral-egg-holder

I guess we can always do another one?
Thelsim@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's something you had as a kid you wish had modern batteries?7·4 months agoFirst thing that popped into my mind as well.
It was ridiculous how fast it could go through those 6 batteries.
Eventually my parents got sick of having to buy them and I was only allowed to play using a power adapter.
I don’t have a favorite but Error Detection by Nemophila is an often played song in my list right now.
